Our Creative Masterclass With Moooi

We had the pleasure of delivering a creative design workshop alongside Dutch furniture brand, Moooi. Taking place in both Glasgow and Edinburgh, we invited a host of designers, architects and interior design master’s students along to a highly interactive presentation and imaginative origami workshop.

Guided by Laszlo Perlaki from Moooi, attendees learned about Moooi’s latest products, trends from Salone Del Mobile and how to make an origami bird inspired by one of the brand’s most exquisite designs, the Perch Lamp. Devised by London based designer and architect, Umut Yamac, the Perch Lamp is one of Moooi’s most curious creations. Wonderfully elegant and captivating, this origami workshop allowed for a deeper understanding of the design process behind what may seem like a simple design.

We started our Moooi tour in Glasgow, where we met with ICA Architects, Graven and HLM Architects for the first round of origami workshops. Our Edinburgh breakfast and lunch sessions were held at the relaxed and rustic Indigo Yard restaurant in the heart of the city’s West End, with attendees including Studio LBA, N8 Design, Chris Stewart Group and Michael Laird Architects.

For the afternoon session, we finished the day with a lecture and workshop at Edinburgh College of Art where interior design students also had the opportunity to create their own origami bird and learn more about the design and manufacturing processes at Moooi.

We would like to thank Laszlo from Moooi for his expert knowledge and creativity in leading the sessions and to Rachel Simmons, Programme Director of Interior Design at Edinburgh College of Art for facilitating the master’s student event.

A huge thank you to all those from Glasgow and Edinburgh who came to join us for the Moooi tour! It was a great opportunity to get together, collaborate and be inspired. We’re really looking forward to organising future workshops and CPD events for the Scottish A&D community.
